City of Portales and XPRT Creative partner to boost city's website

Portales, NM – The City of Portales will soon be presenting a new online look, partnering local design company XPRT Creative to rebuild the city website which will debut this summer. The new website will have a completely new design and content structure, creating an informative, user-friendly and innovative city site.

Portales City Manager Debi Lee feels the new site will "... create the very best first impression possible to plant a lasting remembrance of our community. It will create a user friendly opportunity for new business investment, relocation of potential residents and to make the delivery of services through information available to our local citizens."

Not only will the new site give a broader online view of the city services, but also provide citizen feedback pages to give residents the convenience of communicating with city departments from their living rooms. City CIO/Library Director Denise Burnett is looking forward to giving visitors a clear, concise and enticing view of Portales. "I am particularly excited about the interactions between community members and city departments that are to be included." Burnett said.

Along with a whole new look, the new website will feature easy to navigate menus so users can quickly find information about city services and activities. Portales Director of Information Technology Derek Franz said he appreciates the potential for dissemination of information. "This single item alone is crucial to the quality of life. There are few limits when good information is used to make sound decisions. The overall well being of the community is bound to be greatly enhanced when vital city information is accessible 24/7, 365 days a year," Franz added.

The City chose XPRT Creative for the project because, "XPRT presented an exciting and professional relationship that can benefit both them and the City of Portales. They demonstrated a true sense of community with an understanding of how to deliver the expectation we are looking for," Lee noted.

"XPRT was recommended by a satisfied client. After review, we unanimously agreed that this young, up-and-coming group of people had the knowledge and background, as well as the freshness and eagerness that we wanted," Burnett added.

The XPRT Creative team includes area residents Jennifer Goble Poyer, Adam Morrison, David Ortega and Wanda Newberry. All four partners currently live and work in Portales, and are proud to be involved with this project. "Portales is our home, and what a great opportunity this is to help show people not only in Portales, but also people considering relocating here that this wonderful town really is a great place to be," Poyer said.

"We can help others see more about Portales, and to give our neighbors a good source of city information. We are just honored to be a part of this growth process," lifetime Portales resident Morrison said.

"We really are part of a big family in Portales and it's great to help improve the Web presence. It is a win-win for us, because we get to help make our home look that much better." Newberry added.
